Despite all the rain we have been having (in which we are very grateful for) the Manteca harvest has been tough but we are making it happen. When the ground it wet it is not easy to dig our plants which makes harvest a challenge from time to time. These are some photos that were taken at sunrise on the morning of Thursday January 19, 2017.
Lassen Canyon is now hiring for their harvest season starting September 26th.

Face masks are a great way to feed your skin healthy antioxidants. I love creating my own homemade masks at home since it's inexpensive and the natural ingredients are gentle on my dry and sensitive skin. After a long day, nothing is better than kicking up my feet and pampering myself with a delicious mask. Strawberries are in season from late spring to early summer and if you live in California, they're readily available at your local stores and farmer markets right now. They make the perfect snack alone or in salads but they are also a great ingredient to use in face masks, since they're packed with vitamin C. They are also rich in alpha-hydroxy acids which help exfoliate the skin. So fresh strawberry masks are great for people with dull, damaged or acne-prone skin. Before trying any homemade mask on your face, you should spot test it on your neck or hand to see if your skin reacts. If you're clear, wash your face with your favorite cleanser before applying the mask mix on your face. Here are three strawberry masks that can help cleanse, exfoliate and brighten your skin!

Check this machine out! Here is a video of a first time run through on a machine that plants strawberry plants through mulch all by itself. This was filmed via drone in Santa Maria, CA and we are unsure who developed the machine but it is pretty AWESOME! This will change how the strawberry industry plants their commercial crops in the future if it continually has success. With labor being so scarce and all the laws concerning labor this machine will help in so many ways.
We had a great time supporting our local kids on their 4-H and FFA projects this year at the Shasta District Fair Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday. All the kids did a great job with all their projects whether it was a Lamb, Pig, Goat, Steer, Rabbit or Chicken. All their hard work paid off for them on Saturday. A big thanks to all the people and business that came out to support these kids.
